Koepka walks the walk In an interview prior to the start of the PGA Championship, Brooks Koepka was quoted as saying he believes ‘Majors are the easiest tournaments to win’. Big words indeed, but the 29-year-old American backed up his claim by taking a wire-to-wire victory in New York.
But only just… After heading into Sunday with a seven-shot lead, victory should have been a mere formality. However, the back nine at Bethpage Black proved problematic for Koepka as four straight bogeys through holes 11 to 14 left the chasing Dustin Johnson with a sniff of victory. Back-to-back bogeys at 16 and 17 quickly put paid Johnson’s challenge as Koepka proved he more than has the ability to match his talk by holding out for his fourth Major title with a two-shot victory. |
